Our Medical Back-Up Team

We are privileged to have Robert Ryan, MD., Ph.D., FACOG, as a collaborating physician for any of our mothers who might need consult, services or transfer of care to an obstetrician. Dr. Ryan is supportive of responsible midwifery as well as natural childbirth and VBAC. He feels that women should be able to birth in the place they feel safest with competent professionals to assist. We have been blessed to have his support and participation for more than 15 years.

Dr. Ryan understands that midwifery is most successful and safe when we have an understanding, respectful and skilled reception should the need arise to transfer to the hospital. His responsibility is limited to the medical care actually provided by him or his designee, as may sometimes be the case, in the hospital or in his office. He will not attend the delivery of your child unless you give birth in the hospital wherein a transfer to his care is necessary.

RI TEREF-TA
Netri Teref-Ta, CNM, MSM, APRN is a Certified Nurse Midwife. Ri believes birth is a natural, empowering event in a woman’s life and should be treated as such. She holds the belief that every person deserves the right to make their own health care decisions, and health care providers should promote the wellbeing of each individual based on their goals. She focuses on preventative and complimentary health care and is currently providing her services in Gynecology at St. Anthony’s Center For Integrative Women’s Health Care. Ri is not currently attending homebirths, but continues to serve CMS as a consulting and collaborative midwife.
