icons_position=&#8221;left&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;subheading&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Prenatal Services<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Comprehensive laboratory testing, including all blood work, cultures, pap smear, and\/or genetic screening you might desire<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">On-site ultrasound for dating, gender, anatomy scans, and biophysical profiles<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Regular prenatal appointments lasting 30-60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for questions and education, as well as vital checks for you and your baby<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Labor and Birth Services<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li>We attend home births in central and southern Oklahoma.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">The midwife on call is available via phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Attendants at your birth will include a Certified Professional Midwife and a trained assistant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Care during labor and immediate postpartum will consist of:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Monitoring the mother (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, dilation &amp; effacement via vaginal exam(s), emotional status, etc)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Monitoring the baby (i.e. fetal heart tones, position, and station via vaginal exams)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Delivery of the placenta<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Postpartum monitoring for 2-6 hours (or as long as is necessary to assure both mom &amp; baby are stable)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Full newborn exam<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Prophylaxis antibiotic eye ointment and\/or vitamin K for your baby (based on your choices)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Supporting the family unit during the birth process<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">We are trained to initiate emergency procedures and to stabilize mother or baby, according to our ability and available equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">The midwife and assistants are certified in BLS and NRP (resuscitation of adult, child, and newborn).<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">The midwife will alert the parents to any abnormal situation and offer them all options available.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"padding-bottom: 16px;\"><span class=\"s1\">If you transport to the hospital during labor, one attendant will remain with you until your baby is born or the situation is resolved. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">In the event that your baby is born in the hospital,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">you will still have the full benefit of postpartum care by CMS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243; icons_position=&#8221;left&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1686758910904{padding-left: 50px !important;}&#8221; el_class=&#8221;subheading&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Postpartum Services<\/span><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Your postpartum care will continue for 12 weeks, the full \u201c4th trimester\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Postpartum visits will be scheduled as follows:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Home visits between 24-48 hours and 3-5 days after your birth<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Office visits at 2, 6, 9, and 12 weeks postpartum<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Available postpartum care consists of:<\/span>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Pulse Oximetry CCHD Screening of the newborn<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Newborn metabolic screening<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Newborn hearing screening<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Vitals checks of mom and baby<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Breastfeeding support<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">Filing certificate of live birth with the Oklahoma State Health Department Vital Records<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2285&#8243; width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; icons_position=&#8221;left&#8221;][vc_column_text el_class=&#8221;subheading&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s vital that you feel empowered to take responsibility for the health of you and your baby, as a birth at home is dependent on maintaining your health and<em>\u00a0low-risk status<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Remaining low risk involves:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Eating a healthy diet<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Moderate exercise<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">Avoiding any substances that could harm your baby or endanger your health<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Families who choose an out-of-hospital birth with CMS are choosing\u00a0<em>shared decision-making\u00a0<\/em>in their prenatal, birth, and postpartum experience. We encourage you to become educated about the process of birth, as well as the risks and benefits of birth at home or in a hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We also encourage each client to commit to learning ways to care <span style=\"color: #1d1d1d;\"><i>for themselves<\/i><\/span> while preparing for the natural childbirth they desire. Pregnancy and birth are a journey of change, and while we will support you with care and guidance, you are ultimately responsible for your well-being.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><em>Open, honest communication<\/em> between the client and the midwife is very important. Our hour-long visits are designed to create a relaxed, supportive environment to question and share. During your prenatal visits, we will discuss all aspects of your pregnancy, including your physical, mental, and emotional health. If you ever have any concerns, we invite you to share them promptly so we may offer solutions or assistance.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Your birth experience will be greatly enhanced if we are aware of your preferences and there are no lingering concerns or anxieties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">We are unfortunately unable to accept clients with pre-existing conditions, such as cardiac disease, diabetes, hypertension, etc.,<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and strongly advise any with these conditions not to attempt a birth outside the hospital. Please be aware that Community Midwifery Services participates in confidential review through the Oklahoma State licensing board.
